I would say that to be called a fly, there needs to be thread on the hook. Doesn't matter if its mono, kevlar, silk, gsp, nylon, or whatever.

To be called "fly-fishing" I would say that the line needs to be the weight being cast, and not something tied onto the leader. some of my nymphing methods do not fall into that category, and so be it.

The next method I have thought of but not tried will use an Airflo 9' extra super fast sink leader on shooting line to be fished deep with streamers. I don't know whether that counts as fly fishing or not, but want to try it nonetheless. I plan on trying it on my four weight. I'll let you guys know how it works.

Anybody out there tried anything like this?
