aluminium punt

just purchased s/hand 10ftby 3.5 ft alum punt about 24 inches deep.going to use it on small lakes and rivers .it has three seats which are filled with bouyancy material.just wondering what kind of horsepower engine could you use on it.probaly use mini/kota 34 on same.but would use engine for travelling across lakes etc.awating your replys.

Hi Greg,

Since you are in Ireland, we may not call a punt the same thing as we do in the states. Does you boat look something like this picture? Punts usually have flat bottoms and are not built for a motor. You can see in this picture that the transom is not built for a motor. If yours will accommodate a motor I don't think I would go over 5 horsepower.
