Gear Bag

I am wondering what everyone uses for a gear bag. By that I mean what do you use to tote your waders, boots, and other gear to and from the river or lake? I have to travel 2-4 hous to get to my trout fisheries so I am not just walking out the door to go fishing. Anyway I am looking for something to use for my waders and boots and other gear. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Re: Gear Bag

I have a Fishpond Cimarron Wader Bag and it's great. It has a separate zippered compartment below the main area for waders/boots/wet clothes, etc.

Anything Fishpond will be good and you should be able to find something that meets your needs.

Re: Gear Bag

The nice thing about the wader bag is that you can always keep your vest with flyboxes, camera, net etc in the top compartment so everything is ready to go and just load your boots and waders in the bottom and off you go. (I like to keep the waders hanging and let the boots dry out outside the bag when not in use.) It's also great if you fly off to fish somewhere. Some have both hand carry and backpack type straps and a fold out flap to stand on when you change into and out of your boots so you don't get mud all over the place.

If you have an SUV, a large plastic tub is good for throwing waders and other wet gear into if you don't have, or want to bother with a wader bag, and a dedicated large knapsack keeping vest and other. A piece of indoor/outdoor carpet to stand on when changing, and a dustpan brush for brushing off sand from boots and waders helps to keep stuff from getting too messy.

Re: Gear Bag

I use an LL Bean wader bag for boots, wader, jackets, sweaters, vest or pack...the big stuff....and a Cabelas gear bag for 5 or 6 reels, fly boxes, first aid kit etc.....that's if I am driving. If I am flying I have a Cabelas`wheeled duffle that has 4 lockable tubes for 4 pc 9' rods

Re: Gear Bag

I'm one that has to keep the wet stuff separate and obviously needing attention or it will mildew in an overlooked spot in the garage. I have a gear bag that can hold all my gear, pack and waders, but i use either a large mesh laundry bag or big blue bag from IKEA for the wet stuff. Either option runs about $5.
