HCR is very well received on this forum and they are at a GREAT price.
Personally, If I only had one rod it would be a Med/fast 9' 5wt. 4 pc. Reels you can get a great deal on ROSS and I don't think you can go wrong.
Fly Line, spend the extra and get Rio, Cortland 444, SA or Orvis. Something with the coating on it to make it slicker and self cleaning.

The ECHO rods available through www.thefullcreel.com are great as well. I'd recommend their 9' 5wt, as its a good action that will be fairly easy to learn on, but is not a "beginner" rod that you will grow out of.

Ross reels are great, as are the Galvan and J. Ryall reels that the Full Creel sells. If you want a cheaper option, the Cortland Endurance would be great.

Joni is dead on about the line, get a good one. You can turn a great set-up into a crappy one real quick with a cheapo line. Its kinda like driving a Ferrari with the tires they put on a Model T.

Thanks for the support Joni....

Yeah, get on this group purchase. We have a very good deal.

I would also like the Thomas and Thomas brand. Very good rods IMO.
