Inexpensive Waders

Note that I said inexpensive, not cheap.

I currently have the old $15.00 rubber hip waders from Dick's Sporting Good. They do fine, but I've been looking into getting a set of chest waders. I don't have alot of money to throw around (although after outfitting with rods, reels, backing and such, I've spent a fair bit).

I'm thinking about the following:

Toggs Cascade Rubber Boot Foot Chest Waders

OR the following setup:

Toggs 3.5mm Neoprene Stocking Foot Chest Waders

Hodgman Caster Felt Sole Wader Boots

The boots above are changeable (I guess as everything else is). Another option for boots are these:

Men's Stearns® 3 - Ply Canvas Felt Sole Wading Boots

I really only use them three or four times a year. Time just does not allow for more than that. This is why I'm going a bit more inexpensive.

Any thoughts?

Re: Inexpensive Waders

Don't know anything about the Toggs brand...but have pair of Hodgeman that are spares and have had them for 6 yrs with no problem. I use them occasionally but mostly loan them to a buddy if he fishes with me.

I would look at www.sierratradingpost.com they usually have some good quality wader for a really good price. also look at The Full Creel - one of the sponsors of this forum....Steve always has good deals on waders and has service second to none.

Check Cabela's bargain cave
I have a pair of the G-II bootfoots that are on sale
I only use them in the salt so they don't get a lot of abuse.
Still I've had them three years and I'm very pleased with them.
They have other name brands on sale too

Do not get those rubber chestwaders you will not be happy
They're way too heavy to be walking around in all day
I know !

Neoprenes are tough, they're fairly comfortable, and they'll help you float when you fall in
They're also hot in the summer, not as popular as they were in the past.

Both pairs of wader boots you've chosen are perfectly good, I have a pair of the
Hodgman's myself that I use for wet wading
