Korkers, are they any good

I'm thinking of buying a pair of Korkers Streamborn Wading Boots and was wondering what people thought of them. I know the older Korkers had their share of problems but I've heard the 2007 models are much better.

Also if I do buy a pair, should I buy one size larger than my regular street shoes, like korkers recommend on their website, or should I buy 2 sizes bigger like I did with my simms L2's?

Re: Korkers, are they any good

I can't answer first hand so probably have no business posting at all, but I do think my next pair will be the Korkers, but that could be a while. Simm's takes good care of me. I love the idea of different soles. I have also heard that they are improved 100%.
As far as what size, I will always tell people to try them on with winter socks and waders to be sure.

I think that they may have improved them. I know there were some problems. I have used Chotas STL's, (studded) and the current pair I have I've used for the last5 years. You can resole them. I did that with this pair and I'm going to retire them after this season. I've a new pair just waiting to be used. As far as size goes, I wear an 111/2 shoe so I went to a size 13 boot. Very comfortable. Try the boots on with heavy sicks and wader booties to make sure they fit just right. Another thing is that the Chotas have replaceable studs. I fish about 3 to 4 times a week and they stand up to that kind of abuse. Frank

Re: Korkers, are they any good

I had one friend who bought a pair and has had trouble with the felt soles separating with minimal wear. I have another friend who a pair and loves them. I wanted them but the earlier models had a weird last and I couldn't find a pair that fit. Be sure and TRY them on if you go with them. I went with the Patagonia lightweights and LOVE them. And Patagonia is the standard when it comes to service.

I just bought a pair this year, love them. I got mine one size to big and they fit good, but I would recommend two sizes if your going to be wearing multiple layers of sox. But the interchangable soles are definately a nice feature.

Re: Korkers, are they any good

I'm new to fly fishing but I just bought a pair and I love them. I got them for the versatility and because of their comfort and construction. They were great out in the water and provided good ankle support. They were comfortable the first time I tried them on. I got size 10--normally wear a 9 or 9.5 shoe. Plenty of room.

Got them on sale at Bass Pro store for only $50. good luck
