Leaning Post

anyone know where I can get a factory made leaning post that "pop's" in and out as needed. I am customizing a Jon boat for river fishing.

Thanks

Hi LeeMB,

Most leaning post are going to be expensive for a Jon boat. The small one in this picture might work for you but it is $329. I think a bass boat seat like in the bottom picture would work for you and be a lot cheaper. It gives you a place to lean and a place to sit. a pedestal that has air lift would be handy so you can adjust the height for sitting or leaning. You would have to add a pedestal receiver on the boat floor and you can remove the pedestal if you don't want it. You can also try Taco Metals for components to make your own leaning post.

Re: Leaning Post

I'm doing the same thing, Are you putting in carpeted floors? Phil Rowley helped me out with the design of mine. After fishing in his Jon boat, I noticed with the carpeted floors, there is nothing for your fly line to get caught on. I put a seat in the back and the front using components similar to these...

These won't help you for standing up but you can get extension pedestals to sit nice and high.

Cheers,
Doc
