Rio Extreme Tippet?
Has anyone used it? Especially for nymphing or czech nymphing? Curious as to what it is like and how sensitive it is. May be useful when high sticking, czech nymphing, etc.

Re: Rio Extreme Tippet?
Hi gvillevol,
I didn't look at this post because I thought it was just a mono leader. I have used a lot of braided lines but not tippet. All of my spinning and casting rods have braided line on them. Characteristics for Braided line: 1. It has close to zero stretch. 2. It is very slick and knots will slip if not tied properly. 4. It is very limp. 5. It has very small diameter for its strength. 6. It is very difficult to break and will cut your hand if you are not careful. 7. It is very hard to cut. Nippers don't work well and the best choice is scissors. Use scissors with serrated blades like the Tiemco Scissors. 8. Braid lasts for many years. I have some that I have been using for 6 years with no sign of losing strength. 9. Braid is very sensitive. You can use some of the same mono knots but you need to use more wraps than you would with mono. The Uni knot is a good choice. You need to pull the knots tight using pliers. I have not seen or used the RIO product but if it has the properties like I describe, you may be able to use Power Pro. I think in the long run the Poser Pro will be cheaper. It also comes in 5lb, 8lb, and 10lb sizes. Even though braid is very sensitive I don't think you will get the advantage unless you are using a line that is all braid. The mono between the braid tippet and the fly line will cancel any of the braided tippet sensitivity.
