3-15 report

Slept in to let the water warm up. My boots and waders were elsewhere, so shorts and sandals will have to do. (along with the cell phone camera, sorry) I've had the best luck in this spot on hot days anyway.

Headed west from SA to my default fishing spot. Gotta love less than an hour drive-

Got out to the ranch, and paid my fee to the current owner of the ranch whose family's been on it over 150 years. Guys still sportin the same uniform: weathered short sleeve white dress shirt, faded wranglers, and brown work boots with the _____ ag/mechanical supply hat on top.

Quite a site to greet you right as you leave the car-

I doubt any camera would do this sight justice-

Caught about 20 of these-

And about 20 of these-

Gawd I love sight casting to bass in clear water-

And how a 3wt makes those runts quite a lot of fun-

A great day on a gorgeous stretch of river. Thanks fer lookin.

BTW brillinger, those things in the background are hills. Not sure if you've seen them, being from north cuba.

Only kidding.

I'm sure we'd all love to see a similar report from your waters.

Re: 3-15 report

Nice pics!! I'm jealous sitting here buried in waist deep snow drifts knowing wet wading is at least 2 1/2 months off if not longer. They should be plowing the boat ramps around the end of the month. But the brave that do float will be layered up and wearing warm neoprenes.

Re: 3-15 report

Wow, snow plowing boat ramps. Just an amazing concept to this native Texican. I guess the alternative is having to put chains on your truck to launch a boat, and that concept pretty far out as well.

I know that the last time I fished that river near this time of year I was wearing waders.

Re: 3-15 report

Well Cliff I'm afraid the chains would not help much. The boat ramps have not been plowed since the close of season at the end of October. Right now the road to the ramp is covered in 4 feet of hard packed snow. They go in with a giant snowblower on the front of a big plow truck to clear it. Same set up they use to clear the roads into Yellowstone in May.

If you don't mind walking in in 4 ft of snow you can still wade fish. Drift boaters have to wait for the ramps to clear. So far this winter we have had over 450 inches of snow. Takes awhile to clean up!! LOL!!

Re: 3-15 report

I'm a patrol sgt. for a private security company here in Jackson. My company jeep has the heat on except July and August when I have the window open. Not even sure if the AC works. LOL!!!
