Black Canyon of the Gunnison

Anybody out there that has fished the Black Canyon of the Gunnison River near Montrose, CO? My dad and brother used to go there when I was a kid and catch lots of good trout on panther martins. We are returning in August for the first time in nearly 20 years. I am going to fly fish this time. Just wondering if the fishing is as good as it used to be. I read that whirling disease hit the rainbows pretty hard there.
