Cimarron River

I am getting ready to take a trip up to the Cimarron in two weeks. Does anyone have any recent fishing reports? Most of the fishing reports are not posting much because of the flows. I know that the flow is still low and hopefully it will kick up here in the next couple of weeks. Any help from the local experts would be greatly appreciated.

Re: Cimarron River

As of right now. No water is being let out of Eagle Nest dam. But, this is the time when water is normally released for ranchers and farmers downstream. This past snow pack is a very good one and the flows should start. Tobly Creek should be also flowing well and entering the Cimarron by the campground.

Re: Cimarron River

Trucha, thanks for the report. I have noticed that the flow is still under one and I am hoping they open up the dam a little bit. Is our best bet fishing a dropper rig with a bead head prince or a bead head pheasant tail? Do you suggest any other flies? Also, have you ever fished with a Cimarron special?
