Fly Fish Alaska

Hi

My Husband and I are looking to go to Alaska this summer for vaction. We would like to do some fly fishing while we're there. Maybe do a couple of fly-outs. We don't have time to figure it out on our own . So does anyone know of a guide or lodge that they can recommend?

Alaska Fly Fishing

Hello,

I work for Jerry Austin at Austin's Alaska Adventures in St. Michael Alaska. We provide a rustic fishing lodge in the summer time and also lead mushing and hunting trips in fall and winter. Unfortunately, we're booked for 2005 but if you're interested in 2006 we're already taking reservation. You can visit our website at www.AlaskaAdventures.net

Thanks,

Austin's Alaska Adventures (AAA)

Any of the guides in Cooper Landing - including us, of course - are a good choice.

It's a unique place where to be a guide, you need to have been guiding for a long time. The Kenai National Wildlife Refuge closed the Upper Kenai to any new guides back in 1981. A few of those grandfathered in gave up their permits for various reasons so, a few years back, 5 'new' guides were selected to fill in their spots. All of them had been guiding in Alaska for at least 10 years. So, no bad choices.

It's a drift boat fishery only and some of the best trout and salmon fishing in the state.

But before I can give you any solid recommendations, I should find out when you want to come and what you want to fish for? Drop me a note off line for the quickest response.
