Re: One fly too catch them all
I've caught tons on clousers too, but probably more on bugger variations. Some are as simple as a marabou tail, bead chain eyes, and chenille wrapping the shank and eyes for a body.

Re: One fly too catch them all
Big Cliff makes a great point! buggers are a killer fly and one of the 1st you should learn to tie. they catch just as much as a clouser for sure! I was using a brown bugger last week and I caught 2 smallies and 3 rock bass and a few river chubs in a couple hours. I figured they think it was a crayfish or something. I am going out tomorow and using the same brown bugger to start with and adjust from there, keep everyone posted with pics. steelies are coming soon but I am going for bass and gills cause its gonne be 80 degrees.

Re: One fly too catch them all
I would have to agree with Cliff. My main fly this past year was a #10 green
WB. I decided to tie them with green or black bead chain eyes, and wrapped the marabou up the shank as the body. A little green ice dubbing as a collar, and these babies caught everything from trout to LMB/SMB, perch, and even bluegill that weren't much bigger than the fly !Lefty Kreh wrote an article about his main flies, and said that if were stranded on an island with just one fly, it would be a Wooley Bugger . |

Re: One fly too catch them all
Mr.Copper is my most productive streamer on Trout, this streamer has landed us the most Trophy's in five years todate and even catches Salmon. Highly reflective, flexible and dosn't shrink like marabou and can be seen in stained waters!

Re: One fly too catch them all
on a slow day I will toss on a gold ribbed hares ear nymph with a bead head and I always seem to get something. even if its a small river chub. that way at least you don't get skunked lol.
