Slab Side Streamer For Pike

WHITE SLAB SIDE DEER HAIR STREAMER

Another great nothern pike fly and very easy to tie





HOOK- Large big game hook 1/0 to 8/0
Thread- Black or Tan (3/0) Big Game or Kevlar
Tail- Pearl Crystal flash
Body- White Crystal chenille
Wing- Pearl crystal flash, white bucktail and peacock herl
Throat- White bucktail
Lateral line- Peacock herl
Head- Natural deer hair muddler style trimmed short on the side add bead eyes and then another bunch of deer hair (white) trimmed only on the side see photo






























Also this Purple version very productive

Its very erratic and immitates wounded fish here I use to imitate whitefish that is a deep sided fish

The fly in the picture is 6 inch long but it it also tied in smaller size for trout

Its easy to cast in smaller version but like all big flies its a work out for the big flies

Yup there will be a pike out there someplace that will hit that thing. One thing you may want to try is adding more weight to the front end of the hook before adding the stuffings to it. I do best with more of a head down fall then when stripping the line in it gives it a jigging action. Gives the fly more action on the hair, tinsle, or other stiffs you tie with. You fly as is would do best when the fish are a bit sluggish and not wanting to chase down food. I'd keep one of each. After seeing your fly here I may give it a try. Good job on the tie.
