I use my fingers along with a quick dab of Sally Hanson Hard As Nails polish.

Fingers. Never have used a tool. I have to read up on it when I do tying courses for the students that want to use tools.

I use both but prefer my own fingers.... it just feels more "hands-on" doing it that way....

I do both. It depends on what I'm tying as to which method I use.

I use the tool most of the time, but if it's buried & I can.t find it I'll use the fingers... & Sally's Hard As Nails.. I trim the little brush applicator on the bottle cap to a point with a razor & can use it on just about any size fly

Hi lindmar,

Here is a link to a page that has a video showing how to whip finish with you fingers. It works well and is quicker than picking up the tool and laying it back down, at least for me.

Frank
