Re: What is your most favorite material to tie with?
Bead chain eyes, and usually black. I buy into the idea that the eyes need to be very defined so the predator has something to key in on.

If I lived where Frank does, I'd be tempted to say Krystal Flash. Would say that for sure if I mostly fished salt.

Re: What is your most favorite material to tie with?
Hi Cliff,
After seeing you last post I went back and looked at the first post. I answered the title of the post that asked what was your favorite material. Then I saw that in the body of the post the question was what material did you use mostly. My favorite material is Peacock Herl but it is not the material I use the most. You make an excellent point that it has a lot to do with where you live and what you are tying for. Here in Florida Crystal Flash and some type of synthetic hair or deer hair is used in just about all flies. When I was in Alaska I didn't even know what Crystal Flash was and deer hair was used in most streamers for Salmon. In Alaska I also used a lot of hair from bear, sheep, goat, moose and caribou. Out west I used a lot of hair wing flies and so I guess the material I have used the most is hair of one kind or another. Frank

Not trying to prove you wrong or anything Frank. I know it'll be a long time before krystal flash is in as many fishes mouths as peacock herl has been. Probably will never happen, in fact.
