Mayfly Nymphs

I would like to know what everyone's favorite mayfly nymph is. I am always curious on what others use. I need a few new patterns

Re: Mayfly Nymphs

I mostly dry fly and streamer fish myself. On the rare occasion that I do nymph fish it is usually a prince, hares ear, pheasant tail, or zug bug fished as a dropper off a juicy high floating dry like a hopper, stimi, pmx, or chernobal ant. The old double your fly double your fun theory!!!

Re: Mayfly Nymphs

I like The Pheasant Tail, Hares Ear, and Prince nymphs. I tie variations of each in different colors, with or without beads or as flashbacks on the first two. Later in the season I do a yellow stonefly or a damselfly nymph.

I mostly fish the hares ear and PT, from size 16 too 12 hares ear with flash back and just plain jane with gold ribbing, also lots of bead heads here in Pa. streams we murder the trout on those two patterns if nothing is rising.
