The Mighty Myakka Minnow

This is a pattern I came up with after several frustrating trips on the Myakka River near my home in Sarasota, FL. I would watch as bass and bluegill busted small minnows along the shoreline. I'd cast, but the fish were so keyed into the tiny minnows that they didn't notice what I was casting.

So, I knew I had to come up with a tiny minnow imitation about an inch long.

I came up with several prototypes and finally settled on a design that has taken off in this area and accounted for many different species, including bass, bluegill, speckled perch, stumpknocker, tilapia, shellcracker and catfish.

You can tie them on any size hook, so they also work in salt water.
