One way making Mayfly wings

Body fly: chenille (burned)
Wing : TMC aero dry wing
CDC

Bind in the chenille and make a loop off the aero dry wing

Split the loop with a scissor

Make some 8 turns to stabilize the wings

Split the thread and place CDC and twist

Finished fly

Looks great, Tob1. Is the chenille made from two pieces glued together in a twist? If so, which glue do you use to bind them? Love the burned tip.

Hi. Thanks for the comments
It is no glue that hold the chenille together only the heat from the flame.
Do not impregnate the yarn before you do the heating - it may easily take fire.

Is this fly intended to be fished dry? I'm curious if the chenille will soak up water and make the fly sink like a rock?

This type off chenille do not absorb water (it have been prepared with some floatant). Some floatant is very flammable so melt down the chenille before you treat it with some floatant.
