Michigan steelhead and trout
Well, the steelhead season in Michigan has been touch and go so far from the reports and our experiences. I guess that is typical when fishing for any species, lol.
Soon, the trout opener will be here, one of my favorite times of the year. I hope to have MANY reports this year since I am going to do my best to get out as much as possible. I tied quite a few different patterns this winter in anticipation since I have the month of January off every year. Bring on the fish!

Re: Michigan steelhead and trout
I'll try and catch a bunch!
Hi Tie One On, The Michigan trout opener is the last Saturday day in April. The Huron has an early trout opener which is the first Saturday in April that is flies only, catch and release, until the last Saturday in April. I am hoping to hear from some friends how they did yesterday day since this is the first year we haven't been able to fish the early opener in a while (work). We're on the opposite side of the state from you in Romeo which is close to Sterling Heights or Rochester. We fish the West side of the State often and love fishing the Pere Marquette, the Muskegon, The Manistee, etc. You're in a great spot!!!! Have fun out there.
