Fly fishing the Potomac! (??)
Greetings from Washington, DC! My dad got me my first fly rod for bass fishing in NE Ohio, an 8# rig that I recently resurrected for use on the Chesapeake Bay.
I recently decided to take (back) up this wonderful hobby. Turns out there are some great spots for some trout fishing within two hours of Washington. Who knew! So that's where I spend most of my time, but I have a trip planned out to the Sun Valley, ID area for the middle of August. VERY excited! Glad to be here, and I'm looking forward to the great information and friendly people on this forum. Best, Jason

I'm in Maryland, 25 min from DC. I took a trip out to the Gunpowder yesterday, which was great. It looks and feels like a western stream and has native brown trout. I caught 6 or 7 in about 3 hours. They were small (6-10 inches), but I saw one big one (probably 15") and there are said to be plenty in there over 14" including a few around 20". You should check it out, it's probably a 1.5 hour drive from DC. There is a fly shop there called Backwater Angler that will help you out.
