Hi Troutwhisperer,

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you as a member. We have several members from your neck of the woods. I will be looking for some pictures of those Montana fish.

Re: hi everybody

Rock Creek....what a gem. I was out there for a wedding about 6 years ago, and had the opportunity to fish Rock Creek. It was the best night of fishing I think I've ever had. I was literally laughing at the number of fish taking this hopper pattern that I got in Missoula. I really want to go back

Re: hi everybody

Dont worry ile send picture . Next year I got lots of fishing trips including hitting the salmonfly hatch, maybe even at rock creek. If any of oyu subscribe to fly fisherman the article on Rock Creek kinda made me think about the salmonfly hatch.

Troutwhisper

So you fish prairie ponds! Tell me what you have found success with.
Here in SE Wyoming we have a lot of prairie ponds and I always catch a few but haven't really figured out the best approach to get consistant results. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Larry

Re: hi everybody

I love prairie ponds. The main two flies i like to use are the adams and mosquito. I use my pontoon boat to go after those fish along weed lines and so dont have to worry about losing my flies on weeds. In the spring time i use wollybugger stripped along the bottom and if you see cruising trout i like to use scuds. Ive hurd people catching up to 5 pounders on average using a scud stripped close to the botom. I hope this helps.

Re: hi everybody

Thanks for the info, I will definately give those techniques a try on some of the lakes near town.
