Re: Mmmmmm Beer good!!

y'alls booze laws are the goofiest I know of. I lived near philly for a while and the pizza place down the street sold six packs from their cooler. You could buy a six pack to go for $8 or whatever, but if you opened one up while eating, the cost for that individual beer basically doubled.

Plum goofy if you ask me.

You mean someone has goofier laws than Utah?

Re: Mmmmmm Beer good!!

I've heard about the goofiness of Utah's laws from some guys that hit Moab fairly often, but haven't experienced it first hand.

Then again, if, say, the Amish made up the majority of the population of a state, it would likely have some odd laws too.

Re: Mmmmmm Beer good!!

Probably true Cliff, you know it's funny, around here we joke about "Utah being 30 yrs behind the times", but in all honesty, It really isn't that bad, sometimes being the slow kid on the block is a good thing and overall it really is a great place to live.

But we do have some different alcohol laws.

Where I grew up in Iowa the Amish made really good beer and wine.

Re: Mmmmmm Beer good!!

My wife's family is from Iowa. When we visit, we sometimes go down to see the Amanas for lunch. They had superb beer, the wine was okay. Now, the food was excellent. Unfortunately, my wife's family are Quakers and don't drink. It was hard to sneak away for a couple of pints there.

Re: Mmmmmm Beer good!!

Tightlines, I stand corrected. I guess brewing/vintner Amish shouldn't be all that surprising considering the best beers in the world come from monasteries. (Chimay, etc)

Trucha, the only Quaker I know (former, really) enjoys good beer about as much as I do. Then again, he left the fold to teach hand to hand combat to our marines in Vietnam, so he might be a bit of an outlier.

I grew up and lived in eastern Iowa for many years. Back then they made really good wine and offered free tastings. It's been several years since I have been back so I don't know how it has changed.

BigCliff, I believe Amish sects vary from different geographical regions. Some may observe strict no drinking rules.

Re: Mmmmmm Beer good!!

Been there, done that.
I've been known to pack a bag of ice and brew in, just make sure you git er in the shade.

Usually the cooler is loaded and in the boat too, and yes the wife drives at the end of the day, it's only fair as I rowed all day.
