Re: Prehistoric fish found?

Looks an awful lot like the Polypterus I have in my home aquarium, I'd guess that or a snakehead. Do I get a prize if I guessed right?

I'd hate to hook into that out fishing, probably have a heart attack when I brought it close enough to see!

Re: Prehistoric fish found?

Isn't the Snakehead the one they were having issues with back east a few years ago?
I wondered about that, but the local F&G Biologist seem perplexed as to it's I.D., I would hope they are wise enough to take that into consideration, but anymore who knows?

Re: Prehistoric fish found?

That's kinda what I was thinking, that's why I guessed Polypterus first. They get that size and can crawl around on land. Thought maybe they wouldn't consider one of them since they aren't (that I know of) in any rivers or lakes in NA.

Re: Prehistoric fish found?

I'm not sure what that fish is besides ugly, but you never know. Every now and then some fisherman off the coast of Africa is pulling up some kind of prehistoric fish that they thought was extinct.
