Re: The "Shout out" thread....

You are so helpful!!!! Just for one last clarification....you are suggesting I go upstream from Hiese on the north side of the river right?? All this talk is getting me extra excited!!

Shoot.....I don't mean to hi-jack this thread, but I have an idea that I wanted to run by somebody and like it or not you have kind of become my flyfishing mentor so.....

Here is my idea: I found a weight at SW and bought a few of them. They weigh 1/4 ounce, and to describe them I would say it is like military parachute cord stuffed with lead shot, sealed in it and finished with a swivel. I liked them because to me it looked like it would be hard to hang em up on stuff. I was thinking about taking some mono. (maybe 10lb., maybe 8-12 ft.?) and putting this weight at the end of the mono, then making 2 floro "runners" up from the end of the line 1 or 2 ft., maybe 18 inches apart, maybe 6-8 inches long. I know this sounds complicated, I wish I could draw it.

I think this would be great for getting nymphs down in the lower 1/3 of the water column fast, giving the trout a couple choices, etc. What do you think about this set up??

Re: The "Shout out" thread....

Don't worry about hi-jacking the thread, I started it with the intention of it running wherever it went, speak about whatever you desire.

Ahh the slinky's(make my own though, store bought are too heavy for the flyrod), yes we do use those in the Spring for Nymphing, amazingly snagless. Your on the right track Dorian.

See I knew that SFO link would come in handy. LOL. Cheney does float in the park or has but not as much as over the other side. He is pretty low profile.

Re: The "Shout out" thread....

Wait a sec. are you suggesting this is a common practice? I thought I was coming up with some great original idea!! Are you saying that what I posted is actually a good idea? On the one hand I am disappointed that I wasn't some great originator of a new fishing technique, on the other hand I am a little impressed with myself. Maybe I am starting to think like a fisherman!

Davo

We're always running into him and his "Entourage" on the river, 3 times last year alone, it's gotten to the point we know what to look for when we pull into the launch, if he's there then we go somewhere else.

On a positive note, he does cast better than he shoots!! lol

Well I don't know if it's common, but it is one nymphing technique that when it's on it's like using a magnet.
