Why Steve Earle quit smoking...
ESQ: You've been clean more than a decade. And now you've quit smoking.
SE: I actually did more damage to my lungs smoking crack. But I had to quit. I fish in some of the most extreme places in the world. Trout don't live in ugly places, and most of them are above 5,000 feet. I fish for trout with a fly rod, and you need lungs for that. The Hardest-Working Man in No Business - Esquire Thought maybe some would find that interesting, and maybe even as a motive to quit. Shouldn't take too long for somebody to lambast him for his politics if they read the article though.
