Thanks to the help from Code Monkey at
vBModder the North American Fly Fishing Forum has installed vBSEO. For many of you, this technical jargon creates no interest and that’s fine… you will not likely notice any difference on the forum.
What is vBSEO and what does this mean for the forum? vBSEO is a modification that can be installed for the vBulletin software that we use on this forum. vBSEO ensures that all of our forum content and threads can be included in Internet search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, AOL, AltaVista, AskJeeves, and hundreds of smaller search engines.
For example if some performs a search for “Alaska Fly Out” search engine spiders will crawl this forms content and will find posts and articles such as
My Alaska Fly Out Adventure
Until now, this has really not been possible. Notice that “my Alaska fly out” is part of the URL. This makes it much easier for the search engines to find.
vBSEO makes our forum and thread pages look “static”.
Static URL means that they appear to be just like regular website pages that end in .html or .htm, etc. Search engines love static pages (as opposed to
dynamic URLs like PHP scripts, etc). But this is just the beginning. One of vBSEO’s most unique features is that it has allowed us to configure the actual format of all URLs (website addresses) for forum pages.
So, the forum continues to grow as we continue to prepare for its future.
