Could anyone who has used Sharkskin for a good length of time please take a look at the epoxy around the guides on your rod?
When casting this line on arelatively new Winston BII-Mx at the Charlotte show a few weeks ago we noticed divots cut into the epoxy from the line. Needless to say, that concerned me enough to know I won't be beta-testing that line until long-term reports come in from the field. Plus, was it me or doesn't this line seem louder and splashier when stripping line in? It seems to leave quite the wake at the casting pond. Anyone else notice the divots and the wake? |

I just ordered some today. Cabalas has 4.95 shipping, so I ordered a bunch of stuff....... maybe a little too much!
I'll test it when I get it and give a full report. I got the 5wt in Heron Blue. I really don't need the bright yellow to let me see where my cast went!! LOL I can tell by now. A "bean" is quite a lot for flyline, but I have to have the best available...... I don't know why? I just do. |

Me again. I just read the previous reviews and I remember when the "braid" lines came out, like Power Pro........ lots complained about the noise of the line going through the guides. Now braid is the standard for spin fishing. Many on the spin sites have said that braid line is the best thing that has happened to spin fishing since the graphite rod! LOL
I'm glad that Doug had a wonderful review of the Sharkskin. I love to hear about new advances with fly fishing. |

If you want to have a casting competition with your friend, I give this line a A+, I have used it extensively, it will add somewhere near 10 feet to your cast. If you actually are a decent fisherman, you will be headed to the emergency room |

Reports from a crew of west coast guides I know are leaving me hesitant (and I only pay wholesale)... the second generation line held up better than the first (which wasn't so hot) but there is still signs of unusual rod/guide wear on heavier rigs.
I also have to agree with one of Mojo's earlier comments, the review read like a infomercial... maybe just the authors style of writing, but it was way to happy go lucky to get credible traction with me. The enthusiasm was just way over the top, like a 16 yr. old boy who just saw his first porn flick. JMO, TIOLI, YMMV  |
