Hawaii Bone fish

Hello I am new hear to this forum and am looking for info on catching Bone fish in Hawaii. I will be going to Awahoo the 23 of may with some friends. I have never fished for Bone fish I would really just be happy to catch anything really. I am a freshman in collage and dont have that much $ so was not planing on getting a guide if I did not need one. Maybe if someone on this forum live there could show me around dont need any secret spots. If anyone one wants to go catch some Big Rainbows up hear in Alaska I would Gladley take on a days fishing trip free. Any info would nice thank you

Jake

Re: Hawaii Bone fish

Jake,

The bonefish here average about 7 pounds, and go up to 12+. You'll need at least an 8wt rod and WF-F line. There are several guides here ( Hervous Water Fly Shop ) and there are places you can wade from shore. Expect wind. LOL

I have some names and locations if you like?
Aloha,
Stan

AK dude, let's do a little proof reading before you give the college freshman a bad name

I hope you get out there and can get us a report about the bones. I too will be in Oahu this summer and will be fishing with Stan Wright and with the Nervous Waters fly shop, for Peacock bass and Bones. I am bringing a 9wt TICr loaded with Sharkskin.

Nervous Waters has been very nice and helpful every time I have emailed them. The last time I tried to get a slot a few years ago they were booked, so I am stoked to have a shot this time.

If you do hang into a Bone, hold on and dont let the grin on your face get in your way, because it is going to be that big. I caught one in the Keys this past summer and it was like this
