opening day plans?

My calendar shows Opening Day, the last Saturday in April, as April 30th this year.
Anybody have any plans for hitting a favorite spot in California that day?

I'm heading local, for a small stream above a lake in San Luis Obispo county.
The fish aren't too big but hopefully the flow levels will be reasonable by then.

We do have a lot of year round fishing here but a large number of the rivers and some of the lakes are closed to trout fishing during the winter and many of them open on the last Saturday in April.
The notion of an "opening day" goes back a lot of years to when more of the fishing waters were closed for the winter months.
There are some people who go back to the same favorite spot, every year, on opening day as a sort of traditional start to the trout season. Some of these traditions go back a couple of generations.

Oh we have plenty of chances to do that.
Worst case of frostbite I ever got was a January morning standing in the middle of a river fishing for steelhead in Northern California.
And, as far as Southern California goes, our only real stream fishing occurs in the winter when the rain keeps the streams and rivers at a reasonable flow level. During the long summer dry season, most of them are too warm to fish because the trout get too stressed.
If you want to feel sorry for us, that would be the season of despair for So Cal.
