Posting Hosted Images

Adding images to a post is far simpler than people may believe. This tutorial will show you how to quickly add images to any post you create.

2. Attach a "Hosted" Image

When you create a post, you always have the option to add an
image Hosted on another site.

Images being hosted on another site need to be sites that allow "Hot Linking". Often, members use Hosting sites like "Photobucket" that are designed for image hosting and sharing.

When creating a post, we sometimes want to add an image directly into the post to show or explain what it is we are talking about. This tutorial will include an image that is being "Hot Linked" from photobucket.

In order to add an image being hosted, you need to know the URL (Uniform Resource Locator) to that image.

Once you know the images URL, you need to click the following button:

When you click that button, an input field will appear. Enter the URL into that input field, and your image will appear exactly as the image above does.

The image above is being hosted at http://www.photobucket.com. I clicked the button and entered the following URL into the input field:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0...insertimage.gif

In doing so, that image was wrapped between 2 image tags that displays the image, opposed to the link.

The image tags are as follows: [IMG] and [/IMG].
Like all "code" tags, there is an opening tag ( [IMG] ) and a closing tag ( [/IMG] ).

If I wanted too, I could take the URL to my image and place the tags around it manually. If they are entered correctly, the image will appear correctly. If they are not, they will be shown.

Incorrect manual tags:

[IMG]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/0903/iguanairs/insertimage.gif[IMG]

Correct:
( [IMG] ) ( [/IMG] )

It's that easy!
