Spam PMs

I just got a spam pm in my inbox. Here is a copy. Jessie is the handle of the poster.

Hi,
I'm new here, how's it going?

"Buddhism has the characteristics of what would be expected in a cosmic religion for the future: it transcends a personal God, avoids dogmas and theology; it covers both the natural & spiritual, and it is based on a religious sense aspiring from the experience of all things as a meaningful unity" - Albert Einstein

Hi geist262,

Thanks for the heads up. I will take action on the problem.

If anyone else has received a similar PM I would like to know about it.

Re: Spam PMs

I received a PM like that. I replied asking what the guy's deal is and he never responded. What a jerk.

Received the same spam, I see he is already banned though, so looks like he probably wrote his last.

I got that too. It is definitely a mass PM, but I dont see how it was spam? Kind of strange of the guy to pm everyone, but all he said was that he was new? Poor interpersonal skills, but I think it would be unfair to call it spam? Or did I miss something and he tried to do more than say he was new here to anyone? I wrote him back but he never replied.

You forgot this part.

Anytime I do not know a poster and sending me a link to a page I am not familiar with, I would call it spam. Also, why would you waste time mass PMing people? Obviously he must have some sort of software or it would take forever to do. These PMs and also some posts are the reason why some forums make you type in a code to search or post messages.
