Maybe you mean a "fly port"? Is it attached to your pack with Velcro?

Re: How Many Fly Boxes Do You Carry In Your Vest/Pack?

If you do a lot of tieing and dont want to toss your attempts you can collect a lot of flies in short order. I went from 1 to filling that up and needing room for my bigger flies and streamers. Now after doing a lot of tieing (nothing else to do) I find that I need another for my proto flies and the tinkering flies. I end up doing a lot of see a few ideas on several flies and see what they all would look like together. When I sit down and just tie to tie I find I can pop out 4-5 differant flies in a few hours. Right now I got one box with small flies, one box with my big streamers and critter flies, and one box with my protos in it.

At the moment I have a nymph/wet box and a dryfly box that are normally on my person but depending on the day, you might find a streamer box on me somewhere too.
Warmwater days, is just one box depending on the target species.

I'm up to three boxes now. 1 for dries, 1 for nymphs, and 1 for buggers and streamers.

Re: How Many Fly Boxes Do You Carry In Your Vest/Pack?

Just went to 4 thanks to you all turning me on to Angler's Dream Fly Shop. I don't tie.
Two about six by four inches and two small ones with large compartments for hoppers and larger dries.

Recently started carrying a second box. I don't see myself going much beyond that.

Re: How Many Fly Boxes Do You Carry In Your Vest/Pack?

Usually just two small ones. I know what works in the places I usually fish and just take those. Maybe a half a dozen different flies of all types but 5-6 of each as I lose a lot and give away a lot.
