Re: How Many Fly Rods Do You Own

I've already answered this but it's a cool thread that deserves to live! Plus I've added a few rods since last page.

1-10 wt rod for bassin out of the boat in lily pads and jetty fishing when the tarpon are migrating

3-8wts one nice 4 piece and 2 knock about 2 piece rods

3- 6wts a 8' and a 9' and a 11'

1- 5wt

1- 4wt--my baby a mid-flex for upstream nymphing, spider fishing, and tiny dries..it does it all

1-1 wt that I over line for fishing the trout creek at home.

I have 2 broken rods I haven't sent back yet--a 3wt and a nother 6wt

I have 3 glass rods that were given to me but still fish really good...

3- South Bend Bamboo rods for nymphing and streamer work

2- Granger Bamboo rods for dries and spiders

2 - bamboo rods I made a 4wt and a 6 wt

2- HI cane rods a prince and a queen

1- 3'6" cane banty rod for when I'm feeling frisky

and about 4 sets of no name cane rods that were gifts

and about 10-12 spinning, baitcasting rods including the tiny rods for the kids.

Whew!

Re: How Many Fly Rods Do You Own

Let's see... I guess it's seven altogether. I'd almost forgotten about some of these, it's been so long...

Hardy Smuggler 8' 6-wt (my first fly rod, about 1973)
Fisher 9' 5/6-wt GT40 blanks (2), home-built in 1987 [One of these Fisher rods has done over 90% of all my trout fishing to date!]

More recently, by now having more money than brains...

Sage XP 9'6" 5-wt
Scott E2 10' 7-wt
Lamiglas G1000 9' 9-wt (2-piece cheapie)
St. Croix legend Ultra 9' 4-wt (new today!)

Well, I guess that's all the rods I'll ever really need. Oh wait...

Dave

Re: How Many Fly Rods Do You Own

Interesting thread. I just replied to the poll with an "over 10" response. I use all my rods, including my Phillipson and the two Wes Jordan (old Orvis) bamboos.

Re: How Many Fly Rods Do You Own

Gentlemen, I must confess. I have five bamboo and twelve graphite rods. Rods are like a set of golf clubs , you need one for each problem you get into on the river. Tell that to the spouse and see how far you get.
