Net and hemos on the smaller flys. Streamers and Boogers, fingers. Really big fish, the jaws of life I keep straped to the back of my vest. Heh, Heh! I can dream can't I?

Re: What release tool do you use?

For trout, I use a Ketchum release. I'm normally not into fishing gadgets, but it was a gift, so I made it a point to give it a try.
Works great, glad I have it

This time of year bluefish are my major quarry
They're as a mean as a fish can be and they have a mouth full of razors.
When you land one, the look in their eye tells you that they want to rip your arm off.
I use one of these... 13 bucks from Cabela's... worth every cent.

Re: What release tool do you use?

I earlier mentioned that my Rising Crocodile worked just as well as my Ketchum Release and was useful for other things as well, but I forgot to mention that I also use with it the anodized aluminum model Lippa4LIfe to hold the trout. It works great, and in conjunction with the Rising Crocodile, I have never been able to release trout as quickly and without harm as I do now.

Re: What release tool do you use?

I couldn't get my previous post edited quickly enough to put in an image of the Rising Crocodile for reference purposes, so here it is. Note the unique opening near the tip of the tool. This not only allows you to grip the fly's hook without crushing the fly, it also allows its use similar to a Ketchum Release in a quick release of the fly from the fish's mouth.
