williamhj - the Magog smelt is named, sort of, after Lake Memphremagog, which is in both Quebec and Vermont. Landlocked salmon fly.

P.S. There is a much more "classic" version of the fly than mine, seeing that is an easy google away. or even a search on this forum.

Same here, and have tied the Magog for saltwater use. Even a couple of coats of Sally Hansen's adds some extra life & depth to a mylar body.
