I'll bet that gave you a blood red appearance. Might be really interesting to use for a bloodworm pattern(?); still in the chironomid line, just a larvae instead of a pupae.
This underwrapping is interesting since a lot of times you'd like to get that translucent color that so many insects have; you know, that "I can almost see right through it" color, but with a definite tint.
Hmmm......here I am on vacation and now I'm thinking about my tying bench and what thread colors I do and don't have.
