Buzzard Flies

There is a buzzard roost where I was fishing today and I picked up a nice feather off the water, black shiny and measured from quill a little over 2 inches long. I think the buzzard is a migratory bird so it may be illegal. (well have to check) Has anyone ever used their feathers for tying?

Re: Buzzard Flies

When you say Buzzard - I assume you are referring to the Turkey Vulture. If so, then the answer to your question is yes - Turket Vultures do migrate from Northern states to Southern States in the Winter. I think some of them even migrate further South than that. The Turkey Vulture is covered under The Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Apparently possessing the feathers is not legal.
