Really Orangish Dahlberg

I had the whole day off today, so I went fishing for a while, tied a couple of flies and played with the dog. This was fly number two. The head of this fly is yellow, orange and black, but my camera kinda missed the orange in the head. It got the tail OK, but the head looks pretty much yellow and black. I reallity it has the same color pattern as the tail. I really like the colors of this fly. I seriously don't think they need to be this fancy or colorful for Pike, but they are fun to do.

Hi Dan,

You are good at spinning & clipping and that sure is a good looking tie! For getting the color right in a photo, are you using flash? It looks like you may be, I use a 40 watt spot bulb that is in my tying lamp for light and shoot manual at f20 & 15 on the shutter. You have to set the white balance for incandescent light when you do this but the color is usually good throughout.

I hope it'll work for you like it does for me, all those flies on the AK. flies threads were done that way.

Download and install Irfanview and the plug-in pack. It's free and has no spyware.

Open a picture and chose image>auto adjust colors and it does a pretty good job of white balencing things.
