what to throw at summer reds
 
what kind of bait are reds targeting this time of year on the tx coast? ill be taking my first trip of the summer pretty soon, not sure what flys i should be throwing though. thanks for any help.

Chartreuse and White Clousers are trustworthy producers.

I usually throw something more like these-

i got all three of those ill see what i can produce. sometimes the bottom flies are hard for me to throw once they get wet though. i tie spoons with the creative feathers fly shop stencils.

There's really no need to fish heavy flies, as you'll usually be targeting tailing fish in less than 2' of water. Sizes 2-6 are plenty big, and craft fur is great because it doesn't get absorb water and get heavy.
