Default Trying to increase distance

Well its like this. In a month I'm gonna be goin to lake michigan to fish for carp on the flats. Right now I'm planning on using the guides gear. However, I recently bought a sage launch in 9 wt. I've got a greys XII reel that I'm planning on putting on it. I have cast it with a forward tapered line before, and its a great rod. Fishing in my area, the average cast is going to around 30-40 feet. I can do this fine with my five wt and can far surpass it with my seven. I'm really good at shooting line forward. But I've only just now gotten to the point where I feel confident in attempting a double hall. I was wonder if anyone had any ideas as far as Youtube videos on a double hall or anything else that I should practice to be ready for this trip. I know its a lot like saltwater fishing up on those flats. Thanks for all the tips a head of time and I'll look forward to hearing from you all.

Any videos that you can recommend are also appreciated.

I second that suggestion. Mel Krieger's video on the double haul is great.

Cheers,

The double haul is a really tricky cast to learn. I hope one of these days I can do it with the best of them.

That was a good video. I wouldn't mind that guy giving me some lessons.

I agree totally, unfortunately Mel Krieger passed away in Oct 2008. He definitely had a great style of teaching that a lot of people could relate to. He will certainly be missed.
