I am on the same page as Shane Stroud when fishing with poppers; furled leaders are your best choice for a good turnover. I use 4lb Berkely vanish transition fluorocarbon clear/gold line for all my 5'6" & 7' furled leader I make, then I will attach 2 to 3 ft of 6lb vanish fluorocarbon line for my tippet. This is my set-up for fishing with poopers and never have a problem.
