Default suggested method for picking up line?

So I have trouble when using weighted streamers on my 8wt. Hard to explain....but when I start to pull the line out of the water it feels like I'm hung on something until the line/bug comes shooting at me! What can I do to help with this and get into my backcast easier??

I have tried that with success while wading but when bank fishing around the farm ponds....it doesn't work well?

Farm pond? Is your weighted fly literally hanging up in vegetation or bottom structure?

I usually do the above (roll up to surface, pick up) ^^.

On a farm pond you might try less weighted flies of the same pattern (bead chain instead of lead eyes for example) since you don't have current and can just wait for the fly to sink all day long. I only use really heavy weight flies in current.

When you get good at this cast, you can really lauch it out there.

seems like it doesnt take much effort either to turn heavier leaders or flies over with the method. cant wait to try it today!
