Default Re: tight twists in tippet

I have the same problems !!! I think the gear combination is to blame. Well I have a ECHO2 #5 rod and a SA XPS 5WF line. I use a light tippets and medium and small dries. Problem occurs only with dries and not with nymphs. I tried to use all kinds of tippest and I think that combination of DRY fly and TIPPET is to blame. Well I hope that someone can give us an advice how to solve the problem.

Big Cliff is dead on...less false casting will help...I seldom false cast unless I am changing direction of my cast; also those who thought too light a leader/tippet for the fly is sound advice as well. you might also try stretching your leader and tippet before using....you should do the same to the first 30 ft or so of line as well...it will relax the line and make casting easier.
