Default Paddle boards and fly fishing

Does anyone on here combine both.

We did a little down in the Keys this year and found it difficult due to the wind and style of board (rental).

Looking for some input before we decide to do this up here in the Northeast.

I've been thinking of getting one for the shoreline fishing here in Charlotte Harbor. I've always done a lot of stand up fly fishing in my canoe, something not practical in kayaks.

If you are one of those casters who likes to turn your right foot out to the right, you won't like it.
If you learned casting by facing your target and keeping good posture you will have no trouble. It's that foot turned out which shifts your weight when you cast, some thing no flats fisherman ever wants to do no matter how a stable boat you seem to have.

Lots of stable boats are stable because of the square chines which minimize sudden changes of balance, but that seeming stability of that boat is transmitted into pressure waves under the water. The fish feel that and the back and forth of casting is like the back and forth tail fin of a large predator, then that final UMPH of the delivery is like the UMPH of the predator when he starts the lunge.

So many writers have thought it was the shadow of the fly which spooked the fish when it was the shifting of weight when casting.

Like redfish being blind, it was written about so much that it became true.
Lenin said, "Tell a lie long enough and with enough conviction and people will believe it" So it is in a lot of fishing articles and books. What was it Lefty said about more BS than a Kansas feed lot?

Back in Kelson's day they wrote that fish wouldn't take a fly which was made with dyed feathers and so many believed that! Pliny the Elder wrote that eels came from horse hairs which fell in the water and they believed that because he was an important, respected "Scientist"

I've never done it, but here's someone who does:

(PS: She's saltwater fly fishing guru Conway Bowman's wife.)
