Okay Guys, I'm not looking to make top dollar for these items, just fair honest deals. The Rods that are Handbuilt were built by my Father who had about 15 or 20 rods worth of experience. His work was exacting and top notch. You can ask for pictures of anything. The items I am keeping are not listed. Oh, and all reels come with Backing and flyline of some sort, ask and I'll see what's on it (Dad didn't scimp on this department either) And all rods come with sock and hard case.
and here's what Ard (Hardyreels) was talking about over in General Discussion

This Orvis Far & Fine was made in May of 1977

I also updated a couple listings...
I found the models for the Bauers (hidden under small stickers telling me what line was on them...there wasn't really an appropriate space for the line sticker on the inside of the spool due to the type of drag...)

On an obscure sidenote...if anyone has a Matthews Switchback XT Lefthanded with a 29 inch draw, I will consider trades.

A potential buyer asked about the Warranty Card for the Boron.
I can not find the Warranty Cards for either the Boron or the LT and am currently in contact with Winston to see if:
A. The Boron IIx serial # was registered by my Dad
B. To see if the LT was registered in any fashion (No Serial)
C. If, given the circumstances, exception to the "Original Owner Only" nature of the Warranty can be made on the Boron, the LT or Both.
I will let you all know what they say.
As it stands, their policy only covers the original purchaser of the rod
so as I read it, no used Winston sold has a potential warranty due to the fact that it must be registered within 10 days of original purchase.
If you buy the Evo 1.5 reel (unless you're also a lefty) you'll have to re-spool it for left-hand retrieval...
I and some friends floated the Animas today. Run-off is simmering down a bit, from it's Chocolate Yoohoo Brown to a semi-translucent green/blue. And let me tell you, the Caddis are coming off HARD. It looked like fog! I just had to try the beautiful blue Ross Evo 1.5 so I took it down to Durangler's and had them switch it over. The spool didn't have a line sticker but I'm guessing it has 4 wt line on it because my trusty Sage 590 was having trouble loading up. I told the guy behind the counter, "Don't lose the leader, I want to keep it" When I came back the leader was gone...I raised a bit of a stink about it and made them find it. What I didn't tell them was why...Today, I caught a trout with a leader that had knots tied by my father...some of the last knots his fingers ever tied...and I hope in some small way, his spirit felt it, the tug on those knots and the satisfaction that they held. I know I felt his spirit when I held those knots, between my fingers, and tied on a stimulator from his fly box. The old fly was worn, it had tippet still tied to its eyelet, it had caught fish before and had made it back into the box. It must have been one he liked.
Here are some pix of the hatch, my buddy and co-worker Kenny and his raft which he was so generous to row today for me and another buddy Bennett.
"I knew a tier once. One time he was holding a lump of cat hair he found on his couch, sort of twirling it about his fingers, tugging at it. I asked, what in the hell are you doing man? He looked startled, ashamed. But I knew what he was thinking. right then and there I decided to just buy my fly's thankyouverymuch." ~ cwg
Well, I got word back from the Winston Rod rep. concerning their Warranty...
For fairness I will C/P my email (portion regarding subject) then his response.
Applicable part of my email:
...I know my position is subjective, and I don't mean to be derogatory, but your current warranty policy doesn't say much for your trust in your product. Maybe I don't understand completely but it seems as though you
are protecting your business more than backing your rods. People sell
and trade rods all the time, as their tastes and requirements change.
Winston is basically saying:
A. That one must keep the rod for life.
B. That you don't want people buying, selling or trading used Winston Rods.
C. That your rods won't stand the test of time.
D. That, as an inheritance, this B2x is no longer covered.
E. That the only way to have Winston back its product is to buy it new.
I just find it interesting that such a highly-priced and touted Fly Rod
wouldn't have a better warranty, based on the presumed lifetime of the product, not the owner.
and his response:
As for our warranty ... we do stand behind our products but we must also
protect our distribution. Obviously if a person could buy a used Winston rod
and get it fixed for free there wouldn't be much call to buy a new one. Add
to that the fact that rods do indeed break at no fault to Winston so it is
not an issue of trusting in our product or our rods standing the test of
time. Roughly 97% of the rods returned to Winston for breakage problems are
not manufacturing defects but rather user error or carelessness.
I'm sorry that you don't find an unconditional guarantee to the original
owner as being adequate. We feel our warranty not only protects our
distribution as well as the Winston Rod Company but it also services our
customers who support our company by buying new product.
Orvis, on the other hand has a 25 year unconditional "No Questions" warranty for all of their rods...
