Default Complete outfit

Thru the urging of a friend last year, I decided to give fly fishing a shot. After 1/2 dozen times, I've figured out it isn't for me. I detest tying knots and the nearest decent trout stream is over 200 miles away. I do enjoy the casting but it just isn't worth keeping the tackle around for a couple times of use per year. If purchased new, these items would total at least $700. I'm looking to get $360 plus $20 shipping if paid thru regular Paypal. I'll eat the fees.

St. Croix Legend Ultra 4 piece - 8.5 ft. - 5 weight (slightly used)
Ross Evolution CLA 1.5 with 5 weight flyline (slightly used)
Nippers (slightly used)
Hemostat (slightly used)
70 wet and dry flies (maybe 2 used)
2 bass bugs (unused)
Flambeau fly box (slightly used)
split shot (a couple gone)
pinch on floats (a few gone)
Bio Strike indicator putty (unopened)
tippet material - size 4, 5 and 6 (not used except for the 5 wt. oddball)
8 tapered leaders (unused)
Dry fly dressing (unused)
water thermometer (slightly used)
Fanny pack with water bottles (slightly used)
magnetic fly threader (not pictured and slightly used) works slick

Everything is in excellent condition. The rod comes with the tube and wax and the reel comes with the case and box. If you'd like a high res photo so you can zoom in for a closer look, email me at bassangler@knology.net.

I don't think you should sell it. Are there things folks here could help you with?
Since your a ways from trout water you should fish for whatever the local quarry may be, I'm sure your area has many bass and panfish waters.

C'mon don't hang it up yet, we've all been where you are.

Take a lesson, join a club, go after a different species, but don't quit!

Unfortunately, in the SW corner of MN, there isn't really much for panfish or bass lakes. My favorite little nearby bass lake froze out last winter. Even if it hadn't, I'd rather throw plastics. At least with bass fishing, I can use a light wire snap and change lures in seconds. Tying on flies in the middle of a river is just a pain in the neck, which is why I've used only a couple out of my box. Fishing 1/2 the day with the same fly is really counter productive, unless you're catching them like crazy.

Next month, I'm heading 4 hours north for some smallmouth bass fishing on the Rum River, with my fly fishing fanatic of a friend. Even if I haven't sold this, I'll still leave it at home. Spinning is just much more relaxing to me.

I really don't need lessons. My friend taught me quite well, not that there isn't always room for improvement. A fly fishing club in SW MN? This is a rare sport in these parts.

If I was to split it up, I'd need to find buyers for all of it. If I sold the rod, the reel wouldn't do me any good if I had a change of heart someday, and vice versa. If anyone is interested, here are the prices I'd like to get split up:

The rod (USA made) - $182 plus $9 shipping.
The reel (USA made) - $96 plus $8 shipping.
The rest - $105 plus $9 shipping.

These asking prices are approximately 55% of purchase price.

You may PM or email me at bassangler@knology.net if interested in part or whole.

Come to think of it, I didn't even factor in the cost of the line and backing when I priced this out. Anyway, the reel has 20# backing and 5 wt. Rio Mainstram floating line. I believe it's weight forward.

Final markdown - $335

If you'd price this equipment individually, you'd tally up around $745. The price I'm asking is what just the rod sells for new and this one is just like new. Basically, the reel and all accessories are costing the buyer nothing.
