Default How long does fly line last?

Does fly line have a expiration date?

I have a spool of saltwater fly line that I have never used and want to sell, but it's been in my closet for several years. It's been in this cool dry climate and has never been removed from it's spool.

Thanks for any info!

I have had lines set in the same cool dry place type situation for several years with no noticable problems.

The fly line should be fine. At most, it might need a good stretch to shock some life back into it.

A friend of mine went to Christmas Island last year. I gave him one of my extra saltwater lines that I bought on clearance back in 2003. It was new and in the box. He told me that the line worked just fine.
