Default Furled leader building help?

I've been doing tons of research on building furled leaders, but a few of my questions still go unanswered, so I am turning to the guys that build their own leaders for some help. I am wanting to build leaders that are 50'' and 76" long, and I am having trouble finding taper formulas and peg placement diagrams for these. Does anyone know where to find any? Also, I am planning on using uni thread to make them, how much can i expect it to shrink?

If you have not seen this site Furled Leaders they have a spreadsheet created with formulas.

I have the spreadsheet, but I'm not sure how much I should expect the leader to shrink when I start twisting it. Any thoughts?

10% is about the normal 'shrinkage' you want.

Ditto on that one. By the way, Joni's leaders are the bomb. I love them.

Thanks guys. Now off to find info on the number of wraps per "section" of the leader for a 4wt line.

Dans89, there's more to it than finding the number of wraps.
The site Darwin gave you is probably the best bet. Join and go to leader construction. This is a world wide site based in the U.K. so it has pretty much everything you need to know.

Once again, thanks guys. After a day away from the computer screen, I took another look at the site and I am starting to digest all of the information. I got just a bit of information overload I think...

I got hooked on the same site, wound up building a motorized layout board and have more leaders laying around than I could ever use!

A 10% reduction is about the norm when twisting the two sides. When you move the two sides to one hook to "furl" them, the leader will "expand" at first and then start to reduce. When it's back at the starting point, you're done. Then I hang the leader with a weight and let it spin back and forth until it relaxes to where it wants to be.
