Cortland has its outlet (not surprisingly) in Cortland, NY, not too far from the city, so that could be an option?

215 miles doesn't qualify for "not to far" in my book

There's 2 shops that I know of in NYC. Orvis and Urban Angler
You're not going to "save a few pounds" at either one

I guess it's the fact that I often drive to Cleveland and back that's only 198 miles one way for me haha

Within a 50 mile radius of Manhatten you might want to try Parkwood Outfitters in Bohemia LI. Haven't been there in a while but they are much more in line with their prices than any place you go in the city as Rip stated.

Ramsey Outdoor Sports

240 Route 17 North (9:00 AM to 9:30 PM
Paramus, NJ 07652 Monday thru Saturday
(201) 261-5000 Closed Sunday)

835 Route 17 South (9:00 AM to 9:30 PM
Ramsey, NJ 07446 Monday thru Saturday
(201) 327-8141 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Sunday)

These shops are not far from the City and have more discounted pricing. Usually, brand name fly lines like Cortland, Scientific Anglers and RIO are not discounted at retail shops unless on a disscontinued model sale but will surely be less costly here than in the UK, even at top-dollar Urban Angler.

Jim Deren passed away in 1983. The Anglers Roost...THAT would have been a place to send some unsuspecting Brit!
